Forward Motion was completed in 2006. As I look back at earlier pieces from my current perspective, so much becomes clear. As I take in Forward Motion, I see so many things that are revealed through the abstract shapes and forms. The left side of the piece depicts a womans’ head, her hair piled on top, as I often wear my hair when working, especially when I traveled from art show to art show for so many years. I see the circles of thought dancing around my head, illustrated in greens, oranges and black. I also see the head of a transformer in the far left top of the image in red, and the womans’ head becomes its’ barreled chest. I have felt that I have needed to walk through life as a superwoman, holding the pain of others, as well as my own, as the circular thoughts of self doubt swirl. This has been a large part of my work and healing. I can see it so clearly now through the perspective of growth and respect for the pain.
